To my great surprise and delight, I received a note from my favorite podcaster, Sister Dr. Vassa Larin, host of the wildly popular video series Coffee with Sister Vassa.
Sr. Dr. Vassa is a Russian Orthodox ryassofor nun, author of many scholarly articles and a monograph on Byzantine liturgy and theology, and outspoken public intellectual on current issues of the Russian Orthodox Church Outside Russia (ROCOR). She teaches Liturgical Studies at the Catholic Theological Faculty of the University of Vienna in Austria.
Here’s the note:
Dear Professor Kuritz,
I just received your book, and thank you for sending it, along with your kind note. I was flipping through the book and am immediately moved by several passages, for example on p. 137: “On one side is the kingdom of applause…On the other side is Jesus Christ…The theater artist who lives out his call to the full is tested to the full.” So well put, because it’s so true. Again, thank you for taking the trouble to send me this book.
Warm regards to you and your wife from Vienna, Sr. Vassa
Thank you, Sister Vassa.
