On June 1, 2013 we made our first visit to the Great Lakes Theater in Playhouse Square’s 1921 Hanna Theater to see the new, fresh and zippy Guys and Dolls. The production boasted a wonderful romantic duo with Steel Burkhardt (Sky Masterson) and LeahHorowitz (Sarah Brown) who delighted the audience with the beautiful but overlooked duet,”I’ll Know”. We will never ever see a better performance of Miss Adelaide than that of Kirsten Wyatt. Her Miss Adelaide was the definitive rendition of that role! Anyone who wants to do it in the future should have to have her permission. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. Arthur Wise brought down the house with Nicely-Nicely’s “Sit Down You’re Rockin’ the Boat.” All of this within dazzling sets, lights, and costumes, backed by a lively orchestra. It was one of our favorite theater experiences of the six months we’ve been Clevelanders.
